Plodding along....

Hi all....

I'm almost half way through my placement at Corporate Sports, which is a very refreshing to know that I'm making some progress on my placement!

At the moment we are planning the City to Surf. The event isn't until August, however there is lots to be done. Since the girl who is organising it is fairly new to the company, I'm there to help her out in as many ways as possible.

She has the basic logistics of the event organised, using previous years information. However, this year they are looking to do some more media coverage-which is where I come in! Laura (the organiser) doesn't come from a PR/communications background, so I have been able to help out media releases and some of the marketing material.

I am also doing some work experience for Netball WA. From the 1-9 April, the Australian Netball National are running in Perth. Most days this week, I am doing at the games, doing match reporting and assisting with the general organising of the games.

My job is to watch the games and write up a brief match report, which is then passed onto the girls who are inputting all the data, stats and other info into the computers. I try to get quotes and comments from the coaches on their games to put into the reports.

It was also interesting to talk to a few of the girl who work for Netball WA. One girl (Amy) graduated last year and she is now the Communications Coordinator. She said the main thing that got her the job was her own past work experience. This has simply proven to me what an advantage it is to do some time out in the workforce.

Happy Reading!

Hey Mads!

Sounds like your having a great time at your internship. Working with corporate sports must be an absolute blast, and it must be great working towards an event such as the city to surf.

Good luck with it all...cant wait to hear more about it!!

Hi Madi!

You sound like you're doing great there. You love netball anyways so it must be perfect for you. So do you feel weird working with someone who is also new to the organisation? City to Surf is a key event so you'll be glad to sit back and watch it and say you organised it. Best wishes with the rest of the placement and glad to hear you're enjoying it
